It’s hard to believe the end of the semester is almost here. Thanks to all of you for the work you do every day to support students and to help them reach their academic and career goals. This is our second edition of the Advising and Navigate news, designed to provide relevant updates on events and resources for UW universities. Advising Mini Grant AwardeesIn October, mini grants were awarded to the following universities to support institutional efforts to enhance academic and career advising: - UW-Milwaukee: Case Management Dashboard Development
- UW Oshkosh: Supporting Innovative Design Strategies in the Student Experience to Enhance Advising for Greater Success in Career Pathing
- UW-Parkside: Parkside Purpose Launch
- UW-River Falls: Career Readiness Resources and Training Provided to Enhance the Academic Advising Experience at UWRF
- UW-Stevens Point: UWSP Major Maps
- UW-Stout: Making "Strong"er Students: Improving Academic Advising and Career Readiness via Strong Interest Inventory Certification in the UW Stout Advisement Center
These universities proposed a wide array of innovative programs and strategies to support student success through holistic and proactive advising and career development. These efforts will be implemented during the 2023-24 academic
year.
Behavioral Health Resources for Students- As the stress of finals approaches, consider reminding students about YOU at College (you.campus.edu), which contains a new 5-minute De-Stress 101 module, as well as specific support and information about effective studying, test anxiety, sleep, and more.
- For those wanting to connect with a counselor, Mantra
Health provides telecounseling as an option in addition to campus counseling. Students can go to https://app.mantrahealth.com/login and click “Sign Up” to get started.
- Those needing more immediate mental health support can contact UW Mental Health 24/7 through call, text (888-531-2142) or chat.
Universities of Wisconsin Reports- The first Universities of Wisconsin Fostering Success annual report highlights the work of nine university programs that received funding from a state appropriation to support the success of former foster youth. Two annual reports were recently prepared by leaders in the Counseling Services and Disability/Accessibility Services that highlight critical services that support the enrollment, retention, learning, success and retention of students in the Universities of Wisconsin. This year’s reports continue to highlight the many ways in which these services respond to the mental health and accessibility needs of our students. Find the reports at

Transfer Coordinators Meeting and ResourcesThe Annual Collaborative Transfer Coordinators Meeting was Oct. 11 in Milwaukee with representatives from the Universities of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Technical College System, Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, College of Menominee Nation, and Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College. The annual meeting is an opportunity to discuss collaborations and updates and share resources. Information was shared on military credit updates and prior learning assessments/credit for prior learning. The transfer resources are available at 360 Advising Resources | wisconsin.edu.
NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising- Region Steering Committee elections will be Jan. 10-23, 2024. Find information at Elections | nacada.ksu.edu .

Navigate Senior Leadership SummitThe Office of Enrollment & Student Success convened an EAB Navigate Senior Leadership Summit Nov. 16 in Madison for Chancellors, Provosts, Senior Student Affairs Officers, Senior Strategic Enrollment Officers, and Navigate Program Sponsors and Owners. Navigate 2023 Case Study Compendium
Navigate Board of Regents PresentationThe UW System Board of Regents has scheduled a presentation on Navigate at their meeting Friday, Dec. 8, in Madison. Julie Amon will provide a brief overview of Navigate and use of this student success management system across UW universities, and Ben Passmore will highlight utilization and impact data. University experiences, the main part of the presentation, will be shared by the following speakers: - DeAnn Possehl, Assistant Provost for Student Success, UW-Parkside
- Gretel Stock, Dean of University College, UW-Stevens Point
- Michael Lango, Director of Academic Advising, UW-Whitewater

Navigate Communities of Practice: Schedule and Contacts
Navigate Hand Raise FeatureIn response to a newsletter reader’s request, we asked our EAB liaison to identify UW universities using the Hand Raise feature that allows students to "raise their hand" and ask for help in areas such as financial resources, career planning, health and wellbeing, etc. Those areas of concerns vary by UW universities using this feature, which to date include: UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Parkside, UW-Platteville, UW-Superior, and UW-Whitewater.
