"Thank you for all the support you gave me at Brookes!" Koki - class of 2020 and commercial pilot. Dear Brookes Westshore Families and Friends, Congratulations to our MYP1 class on raising $212.50 with their bake sale to donate to Team Seas. They helped remove 212 pounds of waste from the ocean! It is great to see our students actively engaged in various service projects, demonstrating their commitment to making a positive impact in the community. In other exciting news, we are thrilled to share the inspiring journey of one of our alumni, Koki Maekawa, who graduated in 2020 and pursued his dream of becoming a pilot. Through perseverance and hard work, he has now achieved his goal and obtained his commercial pilot license! His success serves as a shining example of determination and dedication, inspiring our current students to pursue their aspirations fearlessly! We are very excited by the upcoming Graduation Ceremony on May 17th. We can't wait to celebrate with all the families from Canada and around the world who will be with us to honour their children's achievements! We also want to take a moment to extend heartfelt wishes to all the wonderful mothers in our community. Happy Mother’s Day! Your love, sacrifice, and unwavering support play an integral role in shaping the lives of our students! With gratitude, Dr. Rui Li Principal Silent Auction 2024

Brookes Westshore Hockey Program 2025 We have had a great response to the proposed Hockey Programme! If you are interested and haven't filled out the survey - please see below for link. We are considering partnerships with BW Hockey and The Science of Skating to design a program that would provide additional skill-building opportunities for students already engaged in hockey and looking to enhance their abilities further. The program would be based at the JDF Recreation Center. To better gauge your level of interest and gather input to the program, we would like your feedback. Please fill out the following survey: Hockey Survey Details: The program would run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school, between 7.30 am and 8.30 am. Parents can drop off students at the rink at any time after 7.00 am, where a Brookes Westshore staff member will meet them. After the program, students will be transported to the school by Brookes Westshore staff. We believe this program will foster the development of your student's hockey skills and provide valuable opportunities for personal growth and teamwork. Grade 8-11 students Gala You are officially invited to the Brookes Gala! The last dance of the year, and we hope you will join us June 14th for one last night of fun, photos and friends. Admission is $5 a person, and you can get your name on the guest list at the front desk starting Monday. This is a semi-formal, with a navy, purple, black, and metallic colour scheme. We hope to see you there! In Science, MYP 1 students have been investigating forces and motion. As their culminating summative assessment for the unit, students were tasked to use their knowledge of forces and motion to design an apparatus that could safely deliver an egg from the 6th floor balcony—without breaking! MYP 1 students used a variety of techniques to slow the drop of their egg, like parachutes and balloons, with the majority of the eggs returning to the ground unbroken. Well done MYP 1! Grade 5 enjoyed a marimba class with Lorraine Buchanan at Parry Bay Sheep Farm in Metchosin. They had the chance to visit the sheep as well! Grade 5 having a break at the park Grade 4's enjoying a game in the dining hall. MYP 5 are off to Tofino today - hopefully they will witness a sunset like the one below from last weekend (thanks for the stunning photos to Blake and Amelia!) Your comments and feedback are welcome!
