Affiliate Spotlight: Amber Johnson, MD, MS, MBA, FACC

This issue’s C4 Center Affiliate Spotlight features clinician scientist, Dr. Amber Johnson.  Dr. Johnson is a practicing general cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Division of Cardiology whose research expertise includes the assessment of social determinants of ideal cardiovascular health and implementation of mobile health interventions to address disparities in health outcomes.

Dr. Johnson’s research employs community-engaged and geospatial analyses to understand health disparities and improve clinically relevant cardiovascular outcomes. She also uses survey and qualitative methodologies to examine contributors to disparate care in the management of patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD).  Dr. Johnson presently is working to test a mobile health intervention to improve quality of life outcomes in patients with CVD from under-resourced communities, funded by a NHLBI Diversity Supplement grant. Her next project will evaluate hypertension self-management in resource-limited settings. This project will be supported by a NHLBI K23, pending NOA.

To learn more about Dr. Johnson’s work, see her UPMC provider profile and full list of publications on PubMed.
