Born in Vienna, Christa Wiener first discovered drawing for herself at a creative workshop and has now been working at the studio gugging for over 10 years. Shapes and optical balance are very important to the artist, which is also reflected in her motto:

“I go to the forest and in the forest I compose my pictures.”

BEN EDGE / MUSEUM of BRITISH FOLKLORE:
Frontline Folklore series

Ben Edge has an upcoming exhibition with the Museum of British Folklore in Euston at The Crypt Gallery London (St Pancras New Church) throughout June, displaying his Frontline Folklore series, depicting the folk customs, rituals and ceremonies of contemporary Britain.

Left: The Burryman, 2018. Oil on canvas, 80 x 70cm
Right: The Garland King, 2017. Oil on canvas, 75 x 65cm

Edge is predominately a figurative painter interested in folklore and story telling, whose paintings depict the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. He believes his interests originate from his childhood, where he grew up around colourful and eccentric family members who would tell him remarkable stories.

Edge has been working on a new series of paintings that have been inspired by a serendipitous experience in which he stumbled across a Druid ceremony taking place on Tower Hill, London. Inspired by this incredible discovery, Edge began researching the folklore and seasonal customs of the British Isles and was amazed to discover that there were such events taking place all over the UK.
