No images? Click here HELLO FROM THE BLBCAFor many British Columbians, we would like to put the last couple of years squarely in our rearview mirror. Many communities/regions—Merritt, Princeton, Abbotsford, Lytton, to name a few—have endured incredibly punishing environmental impacts from wildfires, heatwaves, and now flooding. Our thoughts are with anybody who has been directly affected by these unprecedented weather events. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this week's weather forecast doesn't yield as much precipitation as predicted. The British Columbia government has declared a provincial state of emergency in order to help all British Columbians through this difficult period. Thanks to all of the many SAR, BCAS, PEP, RCMP, and others for their amazing efforts. Communities, citizens, and organizations such as the BC Fishing Tourism Association have stepped up in a big way lending their expertise to the recovery effort. We all need to dig in and provide assistance however we can; no effort is too small. We all love to recreate, but perhaps we need to reflect on what is truly important at this critical juncture. Dedicate an hour, a day, whatever you can spare and lend a hand to a fellow British Columbian. Take good care. Sincerely, Brad Harrison EMERGENCY RESOURCES AND SUPPORT On November 17th, the BC government declared a state of emergency in order to mitigate the impacts on transportation networks and the movement of essential goods and supplies. The state of emergency also aims to support the province-wide response to the widespread damage caused by severe flooding and landslides in BC.
