No images? Click here Hello from the BLBCAHello, to say 2020 was a challenge would be major understatement. We hope that 2021 is kinder and that we can all shed the long shadow of this crippling pandemic. The world will undoubtedly be different once we emerge from this crisis. BLBCA members will be at the forefront and doing our best to adapt to the #NewNormal. It is clear that we all need to work together and support each other. In some cases, we have opposing opinions on specific topics, but I think we all desire secure access to intact wilderness and healthy wildlife populations. Like it or not, we are all in this together. As Winston Churchill said, “never waste a good crisis”. We certainly are experiencing that scenario, let’s use it to focus our combined efforts in an effort to preserve and enhance the amazing backcountry that British Columbia is blessed with. I wish you all the best for 2021. Take good care. Sincerely, Brad Harrison Executive Director, Backcountry Lodges of BC Association Are you passionate about the backcountry and wilderness? This month, we invite you to reflect on how being in nature either energizes and uplifts you or grounds and calms you and then share your thoughts with us in 50 words or less. We will share some of your responses in our next newsletter and we will choose one lucky participant to win a special prize from the BLBCA! Be sure to include your first name and last initial with your submission if you'd like to be entered to win! For many, the current global events and resulting restrictions have taken a toll on mental health, while we continue to follow provincial health authorities’ directives to reduce both travel and social interactions. While restrictions are causing us to stay close to home, you don’t need to go far to get into nature. For the adventurers that yearn to explore this season, there are still ways to get outside and explore safely within your own community. Perhaps you’ll develop an even deeper appreciation for the environment that exists outside your door. Read the full post on tuning into the natural world to get present on our blog. |
