Melon fly (Zeugodacus cucurbitae)

Melon fly is a significant horticultural pest affecting cucurbits such as melons, cucumbers and pumpkins. It is widely distributed in Asia, Africa and parts of North America but is not present in Australia. Larvae develop inside fruit, causing damage and making produce unmarketable. Early detection is critical to prevent establishment.
