There are many events across the University and online where you can get creative, recharge, have fun or get moving – everything to help you prioritise your mental wellbeing. Check the University’s Wellbeing Hub webpage to see the latest events throughout the month and other very useful information. A few students have asked about this. On the 19 October, SA Health will be running a drop-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the North Terrace campus. Staff and students are welcome to attend the Ira Raymond Exhibition Room in the Barr Smith Library between 10 am and 3 pm to obtain their relevant vaccination. You can find more information here. Finally, I would like to let you know that the Dean of Graduate Studies, Professor Carolin Plewa, holds an informal weekly consultation hour Wednesday, 9-10am where you can discuss ideas you may have or talk about concerns or challenges you face. It is important to understand the terms and conditions of your scholarship though, and the Conditions of Award is a comprehensive document containing information regarding allowances, leave provisions, and your obligations. Unique Student Identifier (USI) A Unique Student Identifier [USI] is a reference number that creates an online record of your qualifications attained in Australia. All students need a USI to receive a qualification upon successful completion from 2023. To create your USI, please visit the Australian Government’s website. The personal details you provide here must be exactly the same as those on record at the University of Adelaide. Once created, log into Access Adelaide and enter your USI in the Statistical Section page, under the ‘Students’ menu. Please contact Ask Adelaide if you require assistance. For international and offshore students, further information is available here; offshore international students are not required to provide a USI. The Annual Review of Progress The 2022 Annual Review is due on 31 October 2022. We ask that you check your candidature record in MyAdelaide to see whether you are required to complete this milestone. You will not need to do an Annual Review if: 1. You are in your first calendar year of candidature (i.e. you started in 2022) 2. You are enrolled in the Faculty or Arts or Sciences and have previously completed a Pre-Submission Review (PSR) or, have a PSR due within 3 months of the 31 October 2022 (please check MyAdelaide to confirm your milestone requirements) You will need to do an Annual Review if you have a 2022 Annual Review milestone, even if you are taking a Leave of Absence. Managing HDR student mental health for supervisors Maintaining positive psychological wellbeing is a challenge for many HDR students at some point in their program. HDR supervisors are sometimes on the front line of recognising signs of mental health difficulties and responding to support students. Many supervisors feel they could use more guidance in this area. This webinar will focus on key practical issues in this context: recognising signs of mental health difficulties; responding and suggesting support; and promoting positive psychological wellbeing. Please ensure you take note of the internal deadline for all applications – 28 October 2022 The John Crampton Traveling Scholarships The late Mrs Mary Hope St. Clair Crampton died on 8 August 1996 leaving a bequest providing a number of scholarships to be used for the purpose of enabling students to undertake higher degree study overseas. The scholarships comprise a living allowance, payment of most compulsory tuition fees and a travel allowance to assist the applicant in travelling to the study destination. Applications are invited from students of Architecture, Engineering, Fine Arts or Classical Antiquity wanting to study in Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece or any other country considered appropriate. Australia India Research Students Fellowship Program The Australia India Institute is delivering the Australia India Research Students Fellowship program | ARCH-India. Funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, it will support emerging researchers from India and Australia to undertake short-term research exchanges. AIRS Fellows will undertake a research project during an exchange of 4 to 8 weeks, to be completed by mid-October 2023. Awards of between $6,200 and $7,600 are available to Australian participants, depending on the length of stay in India. Altmetrics As soon as research is published, Altmetric starts to track who is talking about the research online by tracking how often journal articles and other scholarly outputs are discussed and used around the world. Altmetrics tracks a range of web sources including news sites, blogs, policy documents as well as social media such as Twitter and Facebook. Altmetrics (alternative metrics) complement the traditional citation metrics sources available and are useful for monitoring early engagement with your work, identifying the best channels to promote your research as well as to discover future collaborators.
