Celebrating 10 years of DPMR In honor of DPMR's 10th year, we asked our founding members how it came together, some of their favorite memories, and the future of the club. Pub to Pub Run Recap On Saturday, October 19th, DPMR hosted our annual pub run. As with previous years, Chris Cloyd (the run organizer) and a number of DPMR volunteers did not disappoint - runners enjoyed a great course, a little bit of adventure, surprises at the aid station, and a fantastic celebration at the end. Volunt(HERO)s It's almost time to tally the hours and determine the winners of our 2024 Volunt(HERO) program! This year, the top 20 volunteers with the most hours logged will be entered into our grand prize drawing for five free race entries, for the race of choice, valued up to $200. The board needs you! We are looking for people to serve on the DPMR board next year. Contact our current president, Angela Stark if you are interested! Member Highlight - This month, a member highlight that's certain to make you smile from Jake Thystrup, who's frequently found at DPMR events of all sorts, from Alibi Group Runs to Speedwork to Pt Mariah... Ask the Board - What Races or Adventures are on Your Radar for 2025? Tis the season for lotteries and scheduling the 2025 race season! We ask our board members what their plans are for 2025. We hope it provides you with some inspiration. Trip Report - Yosemite High Route In late September, Renee Jacobs ran, hiked cross country, and scrambled her way through Yosemite along the Yosemite High Route. Although speed records on this relatively new route are not tracked, she believes it is most likely an "FKT" based upon trip reports others have posted online. Here are the details from her adventure: Race Report - Ryan at Kodiak 100k Ryan Herring recently returned from running the Kodiak 100k. Aude Hofleitner interviewed him about the race, which was his first 100k. Coach’s Corner – Processing RacingMost of us have completed our "A race" for the season by this point, and are now in some form of recovery and/or processing... This timely article by Coach Martin Benes might help you with your journey, and impact the way you approach your next race. Book of the Month - Into Thin Air by Jon KrakauerThis month, it's not a running book, but an adventure book. Most of us have heard about, if not already read, Into Thin Air. This book is about Krakauer's summit of Mt Everest "on one of its deadliest days" as well as the history and commercialization of the world's highest mountain. Tues Evening Group Run Time ChangeJoin us at our Tuesday evening Alibi fun runs NOW AT 5:30PM through the winter. Because the winter season brings plenty of weather challenges, check the DPMR Facebook page before coming to make sure there aren't any changes! |
