Vermont Creative Futures Grant Program
The Vermont Arts Council is now accepting applications for Round 2 of its Creative Futures Grants to help the creative sector recover from economic losses due to the pandemic. Grants of up to $200,000 will be available to creative sector nonprofits and for-profit entities that can demonstrate economic harm caused by or exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Grant amounts, which will be based
on 2019 (pre-pandemic) operating revenue, may be used to cover a wide range of regular operating expenses, including payroll and office expenses; rent, mortgage, and utilities; and costs associated with ongoing Covid-19 mitigation and prevention. The creative sector economy is defined as the collective enterprises, organizations, and individuals whose products and services are rooted in artistic and creative content. Seven segments comprise Vermont’s creative economy: culture and heritage; design; film and media; literary arts & publishing; performing arts; specialty foods; and visual arts and crafts. Grants are offered in three rounds. The deadline for Round 2 applications is Feb. 28, and the final deadline will be in June 2023. Learn more →

I (Kimberly Griffin, Executive Director of The MINT Makerspace) was speaking to one of our newest MINT students, Justine, recently. I asked her what she was most excited about as she prepared to take the Stone, Wood, & Steel lamp class with Curt. Her response: I am finally feeling like we are post-COVID. At least the worst of it is over. After nearly three long years as a caregiver in the COVID cloud, I am looking forward to some “me time” at The MINT. I love that. It feels like it could be a hashtag. If you are looking for some #MeTimeAtTheMINT, let us help you make that happen! Perhaps you are ready to gain some Sewing skills in the Textile Shop? Or a refresher on the long-ago-learned Potter’s
Wheel. Ready to try your hands at Spoon Carving? Or go big and build a Ukulele! Maybe get a little messy with Screen Printing? However you spend your “me time”, you can find your #MeTimeAtTheMINT. And if you
know of some younger makers looking for “me time” during February Break - we’ve got them covered, too! February 19-25, 2023 is Engineering Week! The Boiler at The MINT has you covered with CAMP! Monday: Electrical Engineering Tuesday: Civil Engineering Wednesday: Mechanical Engineering Thursday: Chemical Engineering Friday: Aerospace Engineering Full day: 8am - 4pm. (daily rates & half-day options are also available) Discounted registration available for COVID impacted families and free registration for SNAP, 3Squares and housing assistance. Choose the registration option that matches your family situation, no proof of income is required. Our youth programming is made possible through
Expanding Access grant funding, administered by Vermont Afterschool. Learn more about The MINT→
