Warm Regards, Leanne Down, CEO Committee for Wyndham Committee for Wyndham Hosts 11th Annual Economic Update with NAB Economist Alan Oster For the 11th consecutive year, the Committee for Wyndham hosted its premier economic update featuring NAB Group Chief Economist Alan Oster. This sell out event was held at Shadowfax Winery and sponsored by Cedarwoods, the event offered a vital look at Australia’s economic landscape with a focus on the Wyndham region. The afternoon began with networking over canapes and fine wines in a unique horseshoe seating arrangement, fostering engaging discussions. CEO Leanne Down welcomed attendees, recognising the support of sponsors including Williams Landing Town Centre by Cedarwoods. A Memorable Ride with the Mayor: Exploring Wyndham's Latest Developments This year's "Ride with the Mayor" was a standout event, offering our corporate & corporate plus members a unique chance to engage directly with the region's highest appointment, Mayor Jennie Barrera. The morning began at the revamped Werribee Police Complex with a tour and insights around the services that our local Police force manage. Followed by learning about the new Werribee Court Precinct, set to be the second-largest law court outside Melbourne’s CBD. Designed with cultural sensitivity, this facility aims to enhance safety and responsiveness for Wyndham’s diverse community. Next, the group visited the new Truganina Community Centre, featuring a kindergarten, maternal and child health rooms, community spaces for over 200 people, and a library lounge. Strategically located near key amenities, it promises to effectively serve Wyndham’s growing population. The final stop was the Wyndham Stadium Precinct, notable for its green design, modern facilities, and cultural inclusivity. This complex includes office spaces, a gym, and a new stadium under development, reflecting First Nations heritage and promoting gender equality. This event provided our members with valuable insights into Wyndham’s assets and their benefits to the region, as well as opportunities to discuss key matters directly with Mayor Barrera. A special thanks to Mayor Barrera for the comprehensive tour and Wyndham City Council for assisting the Committee for Wyndham in delivering this event. Strengthening Wyndham's Future: Strategic Meetings with MPs CEO Leanne Down has been actively engaging with key stakeholders to advance the Committee's Strategic Plan and amplify the business voice of our members. Her recent meetings with Sarah Connolly MP Member for Laverton and Dylan Wight MP, Member for Tarneit, highlight the ongoing commitment to fostering growth and development in the Wyndham region. In her meeting with Sarah Connolly MP, Leanne discussed the impressive growth within the region and collaborated on identifying key focus areas to drive further development. Their conversation underscored Connolly’s active role in community development and the positive impact of her participation. This ongoing engagement promises to strengthen the collaborative efforts necessary for a thriving Wyndham. Leanne's discussion with Dylan Wight MP also proved highly productive. They reviewed several crucial initiatives affecting Wyndham, with a particular focus on Tarneit. Mr. Wight demonstrated strong support for advancing the region’s growth and development, emphasising his dedication to enhancing Wyndham through effective legislative and community engagement. Both meetings mark significant progress in our pursuit of the Committee's vision for Wyndham. We look forward to continuing these valuable relationships and driving forward our strategic objectives. Opportunities for Collaboration: Committee for Wyndham and Committee for Geelong Leanne recently had an engaging meeting with Michael, the CEO of Committee for Geelong. Their discussion was focused on uncovering new opportunities for collaboration that could greatly benefit our members and our regions. Each region we represent has its own unique strengths and offerings. By exploring ways to combine these distinct assets, we can create synergies that enhance and complement one another. This approach promises to pave the way for mutual growth and success, helping us to build stronger, more connected communities. By working together and leveraging our collective strengths, we’re confident that we can develop initiatives that will have a meaningful and positive impact on our regions. A hot start ignited by Werribee’s small forwards saw Werribee kick the first three goals of the game to establish a 17-point lead at quarter-time. From there, Werribee never looked back, finishing with an 8.9.57 to Geelong's 5.6.36. Fresh from clinching the club's first minor premiership in 19 years, Werribee now has the week off and will await the winner of the Brisbane and Williamstown semi-final. ComfortDelGro Australia Expands Melbourne Bus Services and Embraces Zero Emissions As a Committee for Wyndham member, CDC Victoria continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing public transport and community engagement. Based in Truganina, CDC employ’s over 250 staff at this site and over 1200 employees across Victoria. ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia Pty Ltd (CDC) has secured and expanded its bus service contracts in Melbourne through its subsidiary, CDC Victoria Pty Ltd. The company won three out of five available Metropolitan Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) Franchises from the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning. Starting July 2025, these new contracts will transition buses and depots to zero-emission operations over the next decade. The expansion covers around 250 public bus and school routes and adds 86 buses to the fleet, making up about 20% of Melbourne’s public transport network. CDC Victoria will also extend its service area to Melbourne’s west and north-west, increasing local employment to over 1,100 people. Jeff Wilson, CEO of CDC Victoria, celebrated the award, noting it aligns with their 15-year milestone of providing reliable, customer-focused services. “These contracts will enhance our ability to connect communities while creating long-term job opportunities,” he said. ComfortDelGro Australia's CEO, Nicholas Yap, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability. “We’re excited to support Victoria’s electrification journey with our zero-emission fleet,” Yap said. “This transition reflects our dedication to reducing our environmental impact.” Chairman Russell Balding also noted the broader context of CDC’s recent successes, including wins in Sydney, Outer Metropolitan NSW, and Darwin.
