![]() ![]() ![]() Our grade 4 students hiked to the top of Mill Hill yesterday. ![]() Dear Brookes Westshore Families and Friends, This week brought some great moments for our school community. For Earth Day, we welcomed guest speakers, two former teachers and one former student, to share their insights on environmental protection and sustainability. Their stories inspired students to think more deeply about the role we all play in caring for our planet. We also held our MYP5 Personal Project Exhibition this week. The projects were thoughtful, creative, and as diverse as the students themselves. A big thank you to all the families and staff who stopped by to support their work! Our DP2 (Grade 12) students will start their IB exams next week. They have been working very hard and growing so much in the Diploma Programme. We wish them the very best of luck and are confident in their ability to succeed! The exhibition is the culminating event that showcases their respective journeys through one of the most challenging individual projects they have had to date. Students were so excited to share their journey through the project, including highlights and advice for younger students who are looking ahead to planning and executing their own personal projects in the coming years. There was a wide range of topics - from dentistry, photography, and nutrition to marathon training, urban planning, and the effects of music on the brain. Everyone was passionate, articulate, and informed about their topic. We are very proud of what the MYP5 students have accomplished! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Earth Day Community Block The Service Committee of the SLC welcomed three guest speakers to our school for Earth Day this week. Ben Homer-Dixon, Vallerie Russel, and Sonia Furstenau all have close ties to Brookes - having either been teachers or a student in the Brookes family of schools. All three shared their fascinating stories of environmental research and activism, and helped students understand the many ways they can take action to protect and support our environment. ![]() ![]() Dorm students enjoyed an evening of creativity with Paint Night last weekend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Charlie, Iris, Aii, YoYo and Eve would like to know all about your special fur friends!
