Introducing our New Gate Numbering System

Finding your gate is much easier with SFO's new gate numbering system

On October 16, we launched a new gate numbering system designed to be more logical and intuitive. Under our previous system, gates were numbered sequentially from 1 to 102. With our new system, the gate number includes both a letter and a number. Each letter refers to a specific concourse (A-G) and a sequential number relative to its location from the checkpoint to the end of the concourse.

Widebody: The Launch of the Jumbojets in the Early 1970s

SFO Museum's new exhibition showcases three of the first widebody jetliners introduced in the early 1970s

During the late 1960s, the limits of technological progress in aerospace endeavors appeared to be boundless. Jet airliners were transforming commercial aviation with their high speeds, extended ranges, and economy.

SFO Museum's new exhibition, Widebody: The Launch of the Jumbojets in the Early 1970s, showcases the Boeing 747, the McDonnell Douglas DC-10, and the Lockheed L1011 TriStar and collections from the five airlines that operated them: BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation), Pan American World Airways, United Air Lines, Continental Airlines, and TWA (Trans World Airlines).

View this exhibition until June 14, 2020 in the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum and Library located in the International Terminal Main Hall, pre-security.
