GREEN LEADERS Q&A #18 - Ben Robinson, Director of From the Fields

Ben Robinson has founded and directed multiple festivals over the last 20 years. Having launched Kendal Calling in 2006 and overseen 15 sell-out editions, in 2016 he spearheaded the creation of Bluedot festival at Jodrell Bank Observatory. Ben oversees the day-to-day operations and evolution of Bluedot while still playing a hand in the From the Fields portfolio of events that reach across the UK from the Lake District through to Bournemouth’s Victorian Gardens.

This month we asked Ben about his inspiration, goals and challenges in terms of creating sustainable events - read his answers HERE.

In November Ben Street, Director of Wild Paths, took the Q&A. Read the interview HERE.

Guest Blog: Chris Mastricci, Co-Founder of F.W.R.D. and Ecowarriorz on Campsite Waste

In this guest blog Chris Mastricci, co-founder of F.W.R.D. (Festival Waste Reclamation and Distribution) and EcoWarriorz, talks through the realities of the challenges that festivals face in terms of engaging festival-goers in campsite clean-up schemes, sharing his experiences of what works - and what doesn’t.

Chris takes a detailed look at how Boomtown have tackled the problem over the years, including their support for campsite waste engagement teams, and the mindset of action (over empty messaging), which leads to the necessary willingness to get really practical when it comes to campsite clean ups.
