RHS and IRC Collaboration Produces Two New Toolkits

In an ongoing effort to support resettlement agencies with the knowledge and tools they need to address challenges in housing refugee newcomers to the U.S., Refugee Housing Solutions (RHS) and the International Rescue Committee (IRC) published two new toolkits this week.

First, Leveraging College and University Housing for Newcomer Welcoming offers guidance on a housing solution that resettlement practitioners can explore to house newly arrived newcomers amid the U.S. housing crisis: partnering with higher-education institutions. The toolkit covers various models of partnership and provides practical guidance on how to implement a campus community housing program for newcomers.

Second, Best Practices for Finding, Developing, and Using Temporary Housing for Refugee Resettlement recognizes the prevalent need for temporary housing and provides best practice advice to resettlement practitioners on when to pursue a temporary housing solution, how to find temporary housing for newcomers, and how to create and manage budgets and temporary housing contracts.

Adapting Vacant Office Buildings for Housing Development: Case Studies
