July 1 marked the official launch of the College of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or PM&R. The college's newest department is home to 11 faculty members, four second-year residents and four first-year residents.

UF College of Medicine Dean Colleen Koch and UF Health Shands CEO Ed Jimenez helped welcome residents, fellows and students to a new year by serving as volunteer baristas at Opus at the UF Health Shands Hospital atrium July 14.

You can spot them behind the coffee counter again July 27 at the UF Health Heart & Vascular and Neuromedicine hospitals and July 30 at the UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital.

Bill “Willie” Sanders, the first Black faculty member at the UF College of Medicine and a mentor to countless students, was a critical part of how UF's medical school became an internationally known institution.
