Message from CEO

Hi Valued Members,

A passion of mine is supporting physical and mental health of our business owners which is why I am so proud to be a part of Business Wodonga. By joining forces with Partners in Wellbeing we have been able to make a difference right here in a time when we all need it more than ever. With Father's Day just around the corner I would like to draw some attention specifically to men's health and what can be done to better support all the men in our lives, whether it be our family, our coworkers or a mate.

Over the next few weeks we will be sharing content on social media, our website and in our newsletters. Take a few minutes to read an article, watch a video and check in with each other.

As always, if you ever need to talk, chat, catch up, spin a yarn or tell me about what is happening in your life, my phone, telegram, zoom, skype, email and whatever other method there is these days is open for you. Please get in touch as I would love to hear from you.

-Graham

RU OK Day 2021

R U OK? Tradies

Tradies face a range of challenges across their working lives – from job uncertainty to financial pressures, intense physical demands and workplace culture issues. In an industry where stigma is high, these pressures can build up and impact mental and emotional wellbeing for tradies if they don't feel they can talk to others about their struggles.

When we genuinely ask ‘Are you OK?’ and are prepared to talk to a mate about how they’re feeling we can help someone who might be struggling to feel connected and supported, long before they’re in crisis.

The R U OK? Tradies resources provide practical tools and tips for family, friends and workmates to spot the signs that someone on their work site may be struggling, to empower them to spark a meaningful R U OK? conversation and to help them find support if needed.

R U OK? in Hospitality

R U OK? is working with the hospitality sector to find better ways to ensure the industry is equipped to handle the pressures that come with what is an exciting, yet demanding, workplace.

R U OK? has released free resources, including a 'Mateship Manual' guide to supporting someone in the hospitality industry who's doing it tough and online course, to help workmates support each other by asking, "are you OK?"

Use the resources to promote a culture that encourages your work family to look out for one another and offer their support  in the kitchen, on the floor, during their shift and whenever it's needed.
