Flying Free on Kaua’i: Endangered Birds Fledge

In a new article on our blog, Safina Center Conservationist-in-Residence Hob Osterlund details the momentous release of three rehabilitated Newell's shearwaters—a native Hawaiian seabird known locally as ‘a’o. This event was made possible by community leaders, scientists, teachers, and other good Samaritans who rescued and rehabbed the birds, and organized the release.
