2024 - Our year in numbers

 

In 2024, the Science and Engineering Challenge national program involved more than 24,900 students from over 870 schools across Australia. More than half were in rural or remote regions of the country; 49% were female, 5% were from non-English speaking backgrounds, and 5% identified as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

National final 2024 - Townsville

8 schools from around Australia travelled to Townsville for the National Final of the Science and Engineering Challenge! James Cook University hosted the event with support from Engineers Australia and Emeritus Professor John O'Connor opened the event as the chair of the National Council of the Science and Engineering Challenge.

2025 event calendar

Our 2025 calendar of events is now live on our website. As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Science and Engineering Challenge, we are very excited that the National Final will be held in Newcastle on October 31. 

Please remember that event dates are subject to change.
