#30 Meee Moments
We've almost done it!
We've almost got through 2021.
Here’s our December dose of 'Meee Moments' to inspire you on your journey of growth.
Snap, Crackle and Pop
A few weeks ago, I (Sid) took my children, Beatrice and Freddie, to see the fireworks in Llandudno (above image courtesy of Ignite). As the myriad of colours, lights, whooshes and bangs filled the night sky, their excitement overflowed as they both jumped up and down with joy. There was something magical about their reaction and their innocent “oohs” and “ahs”. I could see people around us watching them, sensing that magic and catching the joy as they saw the children's’
excitement grow. In that moment, I was so proud to be their Dad and share in their joy, too. It made me realise that children don't need complicated things to be happy. They find joy in the simplest of things and find magic in places where we adults have long forgotten to look. This December, try looking around and seeing with a child's eyes. Imagine what would bring them joy. Then ask yourself what you can do to bring a smile to someone’s face and light up their night sky with a little bit of magic.
Britain's Definitely Got Talent
We recently visited some students who are taking part in our FUEL course in December. One of the most engaged of them, a young blind girl, was testament to our belief that we are all unique and at our best can all be amazing. She had such creativity and imagination and has HUGE plans to make a difference for those who also have issues with their sight. We walked away from this visit with such joy in our hearts and a burning inspiration to adapt all our resources to be more inclusive. What about you? How inclusive are you to those around you? Take a moment to reflect and think about how you can adapt your approach to help release the magic in others.
Ho, Ho, Ho!
We can't send you a newsletter in December and not mention the 'C' word. Christmas (sorry!) can be a magical time of the year. But it can also be a time of stress and overload. We can get so caught up with trying to make sure we have bought everyone a present, making sure we haven't forgotten a loved one on our Christmas card list or panicking with last minute grocery shopping. As we were writing this month's newsletter, we started reflecting on one of our favourite quotes,"Time is the greatest gift" and how true it is. None of us can turn back time. We can't get back those moments we either cherish or wish we could change. After all, "Yesterday is the past, tomorrow is the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present". This Christmas we can try to take one moment at a time and live in the 'present'. Take a look at our article from last
year for some inspiration: Top Tips For A Feelgood Christmas.
How Do You Spell That?
We love words, here at Meee, and find them fascinating. For instance, did you know that the word stated to be the longest in the English language contains 189,819 letters and is the name of a giant protein nicknamed 'titin'? A huge name for a huge protein! It's true, check it out! At the end of the day, we all have the same 26 letters of the alphabet to choose how to use - to express our love or our gratitude; to create opportunities to inspire, take action or make a change. How will you use your 26 letters?
Time For Change
As we approach the end of 2021, some of you may be feeling a little under the weather. We know a lot of people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). So, how about using this December as a time to start planting the seeds you want to see grow in 2022. Remember, though, that seeds need to be nurtured and tended to. If it's a new goal, what small steps can you take each day/week to keep the momentum? If it's new opportunities, what relationships do you need to start making or maintaining?
Making a change can often seem daunting, but by breaking things down into small steps it is much more manageable. There's an old saying, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time". Start taking
small steps now so that in a years time you won't be wishing you had made a start today.

*Meee would like to point out that it does not advocate the eating of real elephants and that the expression “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time” is used in a purely metaphorical way to illustrate that breaking down something huge into bite-sized chunks makes it more manageable & achievable.
