Self-timed, all ages, accessible, free and fun! Join Hannah Franklin and The Coal Loader team on 11 March, 6pm to 7.30pm, for a conversation on sustainability. In celebration of International Women’s Day, this interactive session will discuss the intersections of sustainability and gender, as well as key tips about how you can be a sustainability leader in your sphere of influence. Topics also include the importance of community and how local action drives change. Free, all genders welcome. The Coal Loader is one of five North Sydney Council venues to host a new art exhibition, Project 2060: Homeward Bound. The exhibition runs throughout March, and will showcase installations, sculpture, new media, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, textiles, basketry, paper making and contemporary jewellery. Join historian Dr Ian Hoskins, Karen Smith from the Aboriginal Heritage Office, and our team of volunteer tour guides to explore one of the most significant industrial heritage sites on Sydney Harbour. After hosting the first Artisans Market of the year on Sunday, 28 February (photos here) stallholder applications are now open for the next market on 30 May 2021. This unique market offers visitors an opportunity to purchase original, handmade products directly from artists and makers while also enjoying the atmosphere of the beautiful and historic site. Thursday evenings see The Coal Loader transformed into a space for creating, crafting, and collaborating. Every class will be different but all with a common bond of expanding knowledge. The Yoga, Tai Chi, strength training, meditation, and Pilates classes are free to all local residents and suitable for all levels of experience.
