Kia ora e hoa,

What it’s like to work on the frontline at Corrections isn’t always well understood - as our staff have been known to say, it’s not like the movies! We work in a complex environment that can be quite different to other settings, with its own challenges and rewards.

In this issue of Tiritiri, we’re sharing stories that help to give some insight into what it’s like working in a prison environment. Our story on what we look for in our Corrections Officers helps to unpack some of the things that we test for when recruiting for Corrections Officers, while Health Centre Manager Kirstin shares some of the unique differences in working as a Corrections Nurse.

We’re also sharing Robb’s story working as a Probation Officer, as well as a piece that shares insights into our Tikanga Māori motivational programme and the power of connection to culture.

Check them out at the links below.
