After our biggest market yet in November (in the eve!), the Coal Loader Artisans Market will return to its usual morning format on Sunday, 23 February. This unique market offers people an opportunity to purchase original, handmade products directly from artists and makers, while enjoying the atmosphere of the beautiful and historic site. Join our wonderful volunteer guides on the first Saturday of every month for a FREE tour. The free and fascinating Aboriginal history and cultural tours will also be returning once a season. We are excited to announce that the inaugural Claymakers Expo will be held The Coal Loader on the 22 and 23 February. As part of the North Sydney Council Arts & Culture program, Haruka Kobubu is the current artist in residence at the Coal Loader studio. Haruka works predominantly with natural dyes, using her environment inspiration; "The landscape is my collaborator and as I engage with it, it provides me with a sense of belonging." Haruka is presenting a number of studio open days and workshops throughout Summer. Join us on at The Coal Loader for Bar’d Work's unique, fast-paced rendition of Shakespeare’s mad-cap comedy “As You Like It” on Saturday, 29 February and 7 March 2020. Rosalind and Celia are banished to the mysterious Forest of Arden and what comes next is a story of cross-dressing, dodgy poetry, classic love songs, and plenty of ridiculous gags. Our sustainable pop-up bar returns to The Platform on the first Sunday of the year: 5 January. Live music and sustainable drinks from 1pm. See the event Facebook page or website for further details. Details about the 2020 Seniors Festival will soon be announced. The program will include diverse and interesting activities and workshops for Seniors between 12 and 23 February 2020 including tours of the Coal Loader history and a special "Meet the Makers" tour of the Artisans Market. Visit the website link below over the coming months for event updates. Wednesday Wellness is continuing all Summer-long with two exceptions; 25 December and 1 January. Yoga, Tai Chi, strength training, meditation, Pilates, and laughing yoga classes are free to all local residents and are suitable for all levels of experience, from absolute beginners up. Spaces are highly sought-after but if you want to attend a class that has already filled, our hot tip would be to check again the day before the session as people who cannot make are encouraged to release their tickets. The Cottage Gardens and Chickens On every Wednesday 9.30am till 12pm, this social group garden together, and tend to the chickens. The Platform On every Saturday from 9am till 11am to tend and harvest from The Platform's raised planters.
