Click here November 2023 NewsletterRegistration Renewal - feesThe annual registration fees for chiropractic practitioners for 2023/24 have been published by the Chiropractic Board of Australia (the Board). The fees for chiropractic practitioners in NSW will be $417 for 2023/24. Fees are payable via the Board website by 30 November 2023. There are two components to the annual fee, with the first one (registration and accreditation) set by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and the second (the complaints component) set by the Chiropractic Council of NSW. This year, the Chiropractic Council of NSW has again provided a rebate to NSW chiropractic practitioners of $34. The complaint fee reflects costs arising from the regulatory activity on complaints. The annual registration fee is a cost recovery model and there is no cross-subsidisation across other health professions. To learn more, please click the link below. Advertising guidelinesThe Guidelines for advertising a regulated health service were jointly developed by the 15 National Boards under section 39 of the National Law. The guidelines have been developed to help practitioners and other advertisers understand their obligations when advertising a regulated health service. National Boards and Ahpra have published other useful information about advertising for registered health practitioners and consumers in the Advertising hub on the Ahpra website. Follow the link below to download the Guidelines for advertising a regulated health service. PII - Professional Indemnity Insurance arrangementsThe National Law provides that a registered health practitioner must not practise their profession unless appropriate professional indemnity insurance arrangements are in force in relation to the practitioner’s practice of the profession. Consequences for practitioners where this standard is not met include that the Board may impose conditions on your registration or refuse your registration at renewal. To review your obligations as a registered chiropractor in relation to PII, please follow the link to the Chiropractic Board of Australia Registration Standard Professional Indemnity Insurance arrangements. If the National Board becomes aware of a practitioner not meeting this registration standard may prosecute a complaint at a Tribunal, where a practitioner’s registration may be cancelled or suspended for a time. Please see the link below for a recent Tribunal matter. Chiropractic Board of Australia v White [2021] SACAT 44 NSW Health Professional Councils and Health Professional Councils Authority joint Aboriginal Cultural Safety Strategy 2023-24In June 2023, the NSW Health Professional Councils and the Health Professional Councils Authority (HPCA) launched its joint Aboriginal Cultural Safety Strategy. The joint Strategy aims to improve the experiences of Aboriginal people who interact with the NSW healthcare and regulatory system. Our Strategy aligns with existing state and national initiatives to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people. The Councils, HPCA and regulatory system exist for the benefit and protection of the NSW community and we acknowledge that Aboriginal people have, and continue to suffer, disproportionate levels of disadvantage, including in health outcomes. Our Strategy aims to strengthen cultural safety within the NSW regulatory system through increased participation of Aboriginal people and collaboration with stakeholders.
