Place Network Conference Countdown: FAQ

Hi ,

We're five weeks away from the Place Network Spring Conference, and it's time to answer some of your most frequently asked questions.

1. What should I wear? What will the weather be like?

The photo above is from a typical April hike in the park, and you can see us wearing snowshoes as we walk on bare ground. Anything is possible! Check out our weather and clothing guide on our conference website.

Here are some key components of my own packing list: 1) an insulated jacket, 2) a rain jacket that fits over my insulated jacket, 3) hat, gloves, and scarf, 4) wool or synthetic long underwear, 5) acrylic or wool sweaters, 5) jeans for conference days, 6) hiking pants that aren't denim or cotton, 7) wool socks, 8) hiking boots, 9) one synthetic or wool t-shirt, because I'm optimistic like that!

2. The agenda includes "Introductory" or "Experienced" sessions. How do I know what is right for me?

If you end up in a session that isn't what you were looking for, or there is another session you want to catch the end of, please feel free to move around.

3. Can I take time during the conference to explore the area?

This is a small conference (only 50 attendees), and learning from each other is an important part of why we bring people together. We'll miss you, if you're not there! Please schedule sight-seeing outside of the conference agenda.

4. What is the Friday evening Place-Based Symposium, and how is that different from the Conference?

The Friday evening Symposium is an annual event where approximately 200 educators and students from around Jackson Hole come together to share their place-based work. Some Conference participants will present at the Symposium, as well.

Keep the questions coming! The next update will include information about the overarching thread of the conference: The Place-Based Education Challenge/Solution Design Experience. Stay tuned...

Yours in place,

Sharon
