CEDRR March Mixer Hosted by Pure Restorative Wellness Aesthetics and Wellness Cafe
Welcome to Our New Members
CEDRR's Member Services Manager Chrispin White recently visited with Rebekah Stephens, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County, VT at their new location in Rutland Town.
Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County builds modest, safe and affordable homes for purchase and assists current homeowners with safety and accessibility modifications. We operate our ReStore to help fund these projects and provide the added benefit of keeping usable items out of our landfills while providing an affordable shopping experience for our community. It has been 2 months since we purchased 3092 Cold River Road in Rutland Town and we are settling in nicely. Work began immediately to transform the space into our 6500+ sq. foot. ReStore and 500+ sq. foot home panel workshop. I am happy to report that we completed our first three home panels last week!! Over the next couple of weeks we will be completing the 10 panels needed to construct our model home. This model will sit
right here on site, and will be open to the public for tours. This is an important step for us, as it will allow our future homeowners, donors, volunteers and community to see a completed home first hand. We look forward to you visiting us. The ReStore is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am - 2pm. Please visit our website for more information or call us at 802-747-7440. Learn More About Habitat

VFFC Farmer's Hall Goes Green (Temporarily)
The Vermont Farmers Food Center is excited to share what we’ve been working on this winter in our second VFFC Campus Renovation Project Community Update. With the temperatures we've had this winter, we’ve been especially grateful to see our new thermal upgrades in action. These improvements are already making the building warmer, more comfortable, and more efficient. As we continue the adaptive reuse and renovation of our building, we’re investing in smart energy upgrades that will reduce long term costs and strengthen the sustainability of this space for years to
come. Each stage of our progress reflects years of thoughtful planning and shared investment by our grantors, partners, and our community. Together, we are making strategic improvements that strengthen the long term sustainability of our food center. Let's take a closer look.
Preparing for our Winter Coat Earlier this winter, our contractors prepared the entire exterior of the building for its first major thermal upgrade. Holes were patched and sealed, the old metal siding was carefully removed, and new sheathing was installed to create a solid surface for the building’s thermal base layer and vapor barrier to be applied.
Pardon our Mint Green! We love this bold splash of color you can now spot from a mile away driving down West Street in Rutland. But this bright coating is actually a liquid-applied vapor barrier that seals the building and prevents water vapor, air leakage, and moisture intrusion. It’s the essential base layer that tightens the building envelope and keeps radiant heat where it belongs, inside! Once spring arrives, a new roof and insulated siding, in our original shade of green, will be installed to complete the thermal upgrade.
Coming Up Next Looking ahead, the next phase of visible transformation is right around the corner. This spring, as the market moves back outdoors, you will see us begin installing our new roof and insulated siding to complete the building envelope upgrades. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, we’re working closely with our team of designers, engineers, architects, and community stakeholders to finalize plans and complete pre-construction work for our new produce packing center addition — coming this summer! VFFC will share more updates on our website and social media, and you can sign up here to receive the Campus Renovation Project Updates straight to your inbox.

Invite a New Vermonter to Dinner!
Real Rutland is committed to creating and maintaining a connected community. Our mission is not only to encourage people to move here, but to support them once they arrive. An important part of that is building relationships. Folks move to Vermont from all across the country and often find that at the end of their first or second winters they feel isolated. It can be hard to meet new friends and cultivate lasting connections. To combat this, organizations across Vermont are banding together to declare March, "Invite a New Vermonter to Dinner Month.” This initiative was born last year with our partners in Brattleboro, and one day we are hoping to see it all over the state! This March, Real Rutland would like Rutland County residents to take a new Vermonter to dinner on us! The host will be given a gift card to the restaurant of their choice. We are asking for proof of reservation (email, confirmation number, etc.), and how many people will be in attendance. The Gift Card will cover $25 per person attending the meal and will be purchased by Real Rutland once confirmed. Learn more about Real Rutland →
Attendees learn more about offerings at the Real Rutland Community Roundup.
First Real Rutland Community Roundup Was a Great Success!
The Hub CoWorks had the opportunity to host the first Real Rutland Community Roundup on Thursday, March 5. From the 20 organizations that shared information about their offerings, to the many people who attended (ranging from new residents who recently moved to the area through the Real Rutland Concierge Program to lifelong Vermonters), it was wonderful to see so many people gathered together here at The Hub. Thanks to Kamuda's Country Market for the delicious food, the staff at Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region for all the logistical support throughout the evening, and the participating organizations from across Rutland County for providing great door prizes. And of course, thank you to everyone who volunteered and attended! Learn more about The Hub CoWorks →

In this episode of Talking Life in Vermont, they discussed topics ranging from why people care so deeply about their hometown to what it means to step up and get involved where you live. Talking Life in Vermont is all about real conversations with everyday Vermonters about everyday
