I am pleased to announce that the Panel has today released three (3) Discussion Papers, and that registrations are now open for a series of engagement workshops.

The Discussion Papers are themed to the topics the Panel has been tasked with reviewing, and are titled:

  1. Discussion Paper - Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 Reform Options;

  2. Discussion Paper - Planning and Design Code Reform Options; and

  3. Discussion Paper – Proposed Reform to the e-Planning System and the PlanSA Website.

The Papers elaborate on the areas the Panel has identified warrant further examination and pose questions for your consideration and response. However, as I have previously noted, the Panel is interested to hear about all ideas for reform that may benefit the South Australian community and encourages you to raise any matters that have not otherwise been canvassed in the Discussion Papers.

In addition, and as I mentioned in my last newsletter, the Panel has prepared plain English summary papers to assist members of the public in making a submission to the Panel and to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate in the review.

Like the Discussion Papers, the summary papers are also themed; however, for ease of reading, we have prepared separate papers for each Code policy area the Panel is reviewing. The summary papers are:

  1. Introduction to Summary Papers;

  2. Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016;

  3. Character and Heritage in the Planning and Design Code;

  4. Tree Policy in the Planning and Design Code;

  5. Infill Policy in the Planning and Design Code;

  6. Car parking Policy in the Planning and Design Code; and

  7. E-Planning and PlanSA.

You can view the Discussion Papers and the summary papers on the Panel’s website www.plan.sa.gov.au/planning_review.
