Our Launch programme helps us fulfil our mission ‘helping people to realise their entrepreneurial potential’. We have developed a range of training & mentoring programmes, resources and funding opportunities to support business idea creation and development for budding entrepreneurs to starting on their journey. We are also very proud to acknowledge one of our recent graduates who participated on the Launch programme. Sharon successfully completed the 20 hours programme, followed by 12 hours of 1:1 mentoring, where she gained knowledge and skills to implement her business idea, design the Miss Representation business plan, and increased her confidence to pitching business idea in our Santander Do It Fund competition, winning a share of the £12,000. Miss Representation is a social enterprise that advocates for the proper representation of women stemming from low-socioeconomic backgrounds across the fashion and beauty industries. Their mission is to ensure women aged 14-27 are presented with paid and lucrative opportunities to progress and excel in their education, careers and personal pursuits. Miss Representation founder Sharonne Maliki says, “Partaking in the Launch programme, reignited my confidence in the business and the course, Launch Team, as well as the purpose of CUSE reminded me of ‘my why’. Thankfully, I was able to apply and successfully pitch as part of the 'Santander Do It Fund ' obtaining share of the £12,000 cash prize which will help me to develop my business further by investing in equipment to achieve higher quality in the services we offer.” “If an aspiring entrepreneur is reading this, my words of advice to you is to remember and believe in your why. Life happens. Things happen. Do not let the burden of life and personal circumstances dampen your light and overwhelm your person. You have your passion and your business for a reason and there are thousands of people looking to hire your service. Irrespective of what life tells you or what you may sorrowfully tell yourself, you actually can do it and you will: just stop making excuses and make things happen!” 2.
