Message from the CEO

May has been another bustling month for us at Plant Health Australia (PHA) marked by productive stakeholder engagements, a new project iteration and the completion of a strategic organisational project, which I'll shed more light on in a moment.

The month kicked off with the biannual Plant Biosecurity Research Initiative (PBRI) Symposium in Cairns with Rohan Burgess, PHA’s Surveillance Manager presenting on the important work we do to keep Australia’s forests and plantations free from plant pests and diseases, and a PHA sponsored morning tea in celebration of the International Day of Plant Health (IDPH).

Member meetings

PHA's Member meetings will be held from 30-31 May at the Rydges Sydney in New South Wales, both in-person and online. The notice of the meeting has been sent to all Members. Please ensure you register your attendance through the meeting requests and links provided.

PHA showcases digi systems at FutureAg Expo in Melbourne

PHA recently participated in the FutureAg Expo 2024 in Melbourne, connecting with attendees and stakeholders from across Australia, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region. The event was a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and networking, with PHA showcasing its digital systems, and our CEO Sarah Corcoran joining industry leaders for a biosecurity panel discussion.

The PHA team, Matt Hill, Salome Wilson, Dr Bianca Rodrigues Jardim, Dr Lucy Tran-Nguyen, and Rohan Burgess recently attended the Plant Biosecurity Research Institute’s (PBRI) Symposium held in Cairns.

 

A celebratory morning tea at the PBRI Symposium in honour of International Day of Plant Health.

In celebration of International Compost Awareness Week from 5–11 May, PHA’s Dr Lucy Tran-Nguyen, General Manager, Partnerships and Innovation, showed off her home composting system.

 

We celebrated PHA’s April babies with a morning tea. Happy birthday to Dr Lucy Tran-Nguyen, Dr Bianca Rodrigues Jardim, Angela Ditton, and Michelle Jones.
