Bowls 3Five 1-5 Finals

17 November 2022
The top 8 qualifiers were pretty thankful the Finals were undercover last night at Remuera Bowling Club. There was plenty of chatter amongst the teams as they worked through tactics and strategies intending to make it to the Finals play-off.

Congratulations to Mike Luaga, KJ Lark & Jeff Amadia from Epsom Eagles - you are the 2022-2023 Auckland Bowls 3Five 1-5 Year Champions defeating David Windler, Darryl Mackie & John Vujnovich from Pringle Park.

Interclub Pennants & Half Day 6s

Last Friday, the heavens opened & we all wondered if Day 3 of Interclub Pennants & Half Day 6s would take place - but by Saturday morning, the rain had moved on, allowing matches to get underway.

The Half Day 6s were completed so too were Interclub Pennants Men's and Women's Premiers & Women's Division 1.

Congratulations...

  • Pt Chevalier Pirates continued their interclub winning ways when they were crowned Men's Premier Division winners.
  • St Heliers won the Women's Premier Division, while Bridge Park won the Women's Division 2.
  • Epsom beat Mt Eden to become this season's Half Day 6s champs.

Men's Division 1 & 2 and Any Combination will be able to complete their unfinished rounds on Reserve Day, 3 December.

2022-2023 PLAYING PROGRAMME

161st Opening Day

As the oldest bowling club in the southern hemisphere, Auckland Bowling Club's 161st opening day on Sunday, 13 November was a historical event for New Zealand to acknowledge and celebrate.

Summer Sundowner

We warmed up to 3Five at our first date on 14 November of Kohi's Monday Summer Sundowner series, with great vibes and prizes from @tacobellnz.

Indulge in a bit of summer at Kohi with bowls and a burger (or later a burrito)  - whether you are learning the format or already love it and want to stay sharp for the 2022-23 Bowls 3Five Open in January. Three dates remain 12 December, 23 January & 13 February.

Neighbourhood Bowls

We were delighted to welcome Glendowie Bowling Club members and the local community back to the club for Neighbourhood Bowls after last year's covid absence.

Smiling faces and excellent numbers across a wide range of ages would seem to indicate that bowls is alive and well in Auckland!

Two fantastic evenings so far - looking forward to the rest of the summer series. Huge thanks to those coming along, those who help out and of course to our superb sponsor David Nightingale - Bayleys Real Estate.

Rain-dear at Remuera

We believe Remuera Bowling Club hosted the first-holiday ham tournament of the season amongst our Auckland community on Thursday 17 November. So, we were ready with decorations and a great spirit that the rain could only dampen but a smidge.

Pictured are the winning skips - Roger Johnston, Norman Ng, Nick Krajancic, and Ken Batkin, together with our sponsor, Libby Stafford from Cruise Connections, and tournament convenor Murray Lander. We had to reduce the field because of the weather today, but are still pleased so many could still enjoy the competition thanks to our covered facility.  Keep counting down to Christmas with us at our next Thursday date - 1 December.
