SFO News Update – Summer 2024

Amazing Has Arrived

On June 17, SFO opened the final section of our award-winning $2.5B Harvey Milk Terminal 1 (HMT1). This fourth and final phase of HMT1 includes a new north check-in lobby, a new mezzanine-level security checkpoint, two additional aircraft gates, and four new concessions. Here are some helpful tips to note about this opening:

• Alaska Airlines has relocated its operations to Harvey Milk Terminal 1
• A post-security connector between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is now open. With the addition of this connector, passengers can now get to any gate in any terminal once they have cleared security.
• HMT1 features new automated exit lanes, a first at SFO.
• New concessions include 7x7, Green Apple Books, Poke to the Max and Pronto!

Fly Air Premia

On May 17, Air Premia launched nonstop service to Seoul (ICN). Flying four times weekly from SFO, Air Premia calls itself the first and only HSC (Hybrid Service Carrier) in Korea, providing high-quality service at a reasonable cost. This route operates on Air Premia’s next-generation 787-9 aircraft.

More Ways to Mexico: SFO Welcomes United Airlines Nonstop Service to Monterrey

Starting in October, SFO will offer nonstop service to Monterrey, Mexico with flights on United Airlines. Service to the "Business Capital of Mexico" will launch on October 27, 2024 and tickets for these flights are available now. United plans to offer 12 flights per week year-round, increasing to two daily flights during peak periods.

New Nonstop Service to Belize Launches December

Just in time for the holidays, United will launch nonstop seasonal service to the Caribbean shorelines of Belize (BZE) this December! United plans to offer one flight per week to Belize City (BZE) using Boeing 737 aircraft.

SFO Celebrates Pride

Love Illuminates Every Journey!

On June 30, SFO employees proudly marched in the 54th annual San Francisco Pride Parade, an event attended by thousands of spectators each year. More than 40 SFO employees marched in style with music, a decorated float, and rainbow pom poms. At SFO, Pride celebrations continued throughout the month of June with in-terminal photo booths of the historic Castro District and live performances showcasing the talent and creativity of San Francisco’s LGBTQIA+ community. Performers included Cheer SF, BeBe Sweetbriar, Mercedes Munro, and more.
