It's Graduation Time for You and Your Files

Pitt students graduating

It’s finally time for graduation! We're sure you’ve put loads of thought into how you'll say goodbye to Pitt. But have you thought about all the tech you’ll also be leaving behind?

Before you’re handed your diploma, make sure you're tech-ready for graduation. Pitt IT's Graduation IT Checklist can help you through the process of transitioning to an alumni account, including these top tasks:

  1. Back up your OneDrive files to another cloud account or hard drive. Be sure to save files saved in LabArchives and Panopto, too.
  2. Download any assignments and course content from Canvas that you want to keep.
  3. Create free or purchase enhanced accounts with Microsoft 365, Zoom, LastPass, or other apps and services that you'll lose access to.
  4. Use PeopleSoft/HighPoint CX to view your grades, or request a transcript or enrollment verification online.
  5. Keep in touch with your Pitt email address (which is yours to keep) and continue safe computing practices wherever you go.

Keep Using LastPass

Have you been relying on Pitt Password Manager (LastPass) to remember all your precious passwords? If you’re graduating, you don’t need to worry about losing them, because you will still retain your Last Pass account. Note that it will revert to a basic account, which only allows an app on one device. But you can access your vault from any web browser.

Lounge and Learn

Didn't get around to taking the LinkedIn Learning courses or learning paths you bookmarked? Not to worry! LinkedIn Learning is available to all students through the summer. It is even available to recent graduates through August. Access your LinkedIn Learning account this summer for a little learning when you have some free time.

Summer Enrollment

The summer can be a great time to get ahead of the game. Enrolling in summer classes can be especially helpful for Panthers who are pursuing double majors, minors, or certificates. Squeeze in a class or two over the summer and graduate when you want. You can enroll in summer classes through PeopleSoft or peruse available Fall 2023 courses.

Panopto Recording Changes

Beginning July 1, unviewed videos that you recorded in Panopto for a class will be archived after 12 months, and then permanently deleted after 30 months. Also beginning on July 1, Zoom recordings will be saved in Zoom (rather than Zoom), and will be moved to the Trash and deleted after 60 days. Click here for more information regarding the changes.
