CONSOLIDATED ELECTIONTuesday, April 1st
If you don’t already know, we have a consolidated election coming up on APRIL 1st. Why do you care? In this election you will have a chance to vote for your Grandwood Park Park District commissioners. You will also have a voice in how Warren Township leadership moves forward. The future direction of these important organizations impacts you directly! As an unincorporated community, Grandwood Park relies more on park district and township resources than residents
living within a village or other incorporated areas. Beginning with this election you will also have the opportunity to vote at the Grandwood Park Park District Community Center. With the addition of our new parking lot, we are once again a polling place!
Timeline for the election: Tuesday, March 4: last day to register to vote with a mail-in application or deputy registrar.
Friday, March 7: early voting and Grace Period registration begins at the County Clerk's office. Vote-by-mail ballots start mailing to voters who applied, including UOCAVA voters (military and overseas).
Sunday, March 16: online voter registration closes
Monday, March 17: early voting expands countywide.
Thursday, March 27: last day for the election authority to receive, by mail, an application for a vote by mail ballot and mail that ballot to a voter.
Monday, March 31: last day for in-person early voting
Tuesday, April 1: Election Day! Polls are open from 6:00am to 7:00 p.m. Stay informed and prepared - your voice matters! Visit the Lake County Clerk's office website for more information.
LAKE CLEAN UP DAY
APRIL 26, 2025
Our community is fortunate to have several parks and open spaces along Mill Creek and Grandwood Lake. These areas add to our neighborhood property values and offer residents a place to sit and watch nature, take a walk, or try their hand at fishing. During the winter months the native flowers planted along the shores tend to collect blowing trash and debris. Please plan on joining your park district and other residents as we come together to Clean up the
Lake. Bring garden gloves, clippers, rakes, or other useful tools to help in this neighborhood effort to keep our lake and parks clean. Trash bags will be provided. We will meet at the picnic shelter in Lake Park at 10am on Saturday, April 26. Giving back is fun and it’s a chance to meet your neighbors! See you there!

Just about anyone that has lived in the Grandwood Park Community or The Shires for at least 10-years knows the name Dave Brown. David Brown died on February 5th, 2025. He was 82 years old. Dave and wife Connie moved into Grandwood Park on a cold February day in 1975. He didn’t even have all of his furniture in his new house and he was volunteering for the Grandwood Park Civic Association (GPCA). From that day on Dave and Connie were the face of Grandwood Park. He worked tirelessly for the GPCA and then was elected to the Park District as
a Commissioner. Dave was just about everywhere. Fixing things, cutting grass, and trimming trees. Dave and his trusty and classic Ford 8N Tractor. Eventually moving up to a bigger John Deere. Over 30-years for the Park District, serving many times as President and a mentor for newly minted Commissioners. His accomplishments are legendary and sometimes were questioned by County Officials. He persevered and kept moving forward. Some of us will miss Dave more than others, but everyone can see what Dave did for his community…..just look around. We’ll meet you again, somewhere, for “Choir Practice” Dave. You’re buying.
Do you like to scrapbook, make cards, do diamond art, etc.?? Once a month the park district holds a 12-hour scrapbook crop and everyone with a crafty hobby is welcome to join us! Just register in advance as space is limited to 40 participants.

WARREN TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY DEPARTMENTWarren Township Road District continues to provide the brush removal service. The service is performed all year long, as long as there is no snow on the ground, and the road district is not snowplowing. Because of the brush removal service, the Road District is able to offer FREE mulch to all of the Warren Township Road District residents (with 5-digit address). We deliver the mulch to your home at NO CHARGE. You can call the Highway Department starting March 1, 2025 at 847-244-1101, Ext 301, to get your name
added to the mulch list. We deliver on a first come first serve basis. Delivery usually starts in April – weather permitting. Residents are also welcome to come and pick up the wood mulch between 7:00 am & 3:00 pm, Monday thru Friday. When picking up wood mulch, residents are required to load their own mulch.

LAKE COUNTY CELEBRATED 211 DAY ON
FEBRUARY 11TH
The Lake County Board recognized February 11, 2025, as 211 Day, celebrating a vital resource that has connected hundreds of thousands of residents to critical services since its launch. By simply dialing 211 or texting a ZIP code to 898-211, residents of Lake County can connect with live, highly trained experts who navigate callers to the help they need. These services range from addressing food insecurity and housing challenges to finding health care, behavioral health services and much more. “Help is just one phone call or text away,” said Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart. “211 is here, 24/7, for residents who are facing life’s challenges. Whether it’s putting food on the table, finding a safe place to live or accessing critical health services, 211 is there to guide and support our community.” Since its inception in 2019, 211 has facilitated more than 375,000 connections for people in Lake County. The service is free, confidential and accessible in every ZIP code across the county. The 211 team can interpret more than 150 languages. “We deeply appreciate the unwavering partnership and generous support from Lake County since the launch of 211 in 2019,” said Kristi Long, President and CEO of United Way of Lake County. “211 Day serves as an excellent opportunity to spotlight this essential resource that uplifts individuals, enhances lives and fosters a stronger, more connected Lake County.” Operated by United Way, 211 represents a partnership dedicated to improving lives and building a stronger community. Lake County plays a key role in raising awareness of 211 and provides financial support to sustain its services. “211 is helping people get connected to resources they may not even know exist,” said J. Kevin Hunter, Lake County Board representative on the 211 Advisory Council. “We encourage everyone to tell their friends and family about 211. It could just change someone’s life.” Today, 211 is available to 99 percent of America’s population, offering a lifeline to those in need. To learn more about 211 and the resources it provides, visit 211LakeCounty.org.
