Message from the Principal

Welcome to our Semester Newsletter

As we look ahead to Autum 2026 and beyond, the College continues to move forward with clarity and intention. Our planning is shaped by four key priorities that guide how we invest in our people, programs and environment:

  • Strengthening teaching and learning through innovation and best practice
  • Proactively supporting the well-being of students and staff
  • Building a connected community grounded in care, faith and meaningful relationships
  • Ensuring the long‑term sustainability of the College

These priorities reflect our belief that students flourish best when they feel safe, supported, challenged and inspired.

Campus Development

A highlight of this year has been the opening of the new Study Centre, a flexible learning space comprising five classrooms that can operate independently or combined to form a large examination hall. Its completion also enabled the removal of the demountable classroom, creating space for an expanded staff car park and improved access for families and visitors.

Further developments are underway, including a second storey at the Health Centre to create space for offices and the refurbishment of the space above the breezeway to accommodate our growing Humanities teaching team. We have also introduced a new bus route servicing the Coogee area, making travel to Kennedy more convenient for local families.

A Community Grounded in Faith and Care

Christian faith is lived out each day through pastoral care, shared moments such as Easter Services, and the support of our Chaplaincy team. Together with our strong partnerships with local churches, these connections help ensure students and families feel known, supported and valued.

We invite you to explore this newsletter and discover why Kennedy remains a community where young people are encouraged to strive today and conquer tomorrow.

Easter Service: The Way

This year’s theme, “The Way,” was beautifully brought to life by our talented students, who captivated us with their performance. Their portrayal of a traveller lost in an airport, navigating confusion and uncertainty, resonated with many.

International Tours

Travel has the remarkable ability to enrich the educational experience of students and ignite their future ambitions. Exploring diverse cultures and settings broadens students' perspectives, as demonstrated by the recent Kennedy tours to Japan and China.

During the week-long adventure in Japan, Ski Tour Coordinator Mrs Manns shared insights about the trip, while China Tour Coordinator Mr New recounted the journey to Shanghai, Beijing and Xi'an.

A Life of Service: How Music, Faith and Teaching Define Mr Sim

Whether he is teaching Mathematics or Christian Education, playing music, leading worship in a College event or hosting a podcast, Mr Sim is focused on helping and serving others, especially his students. Sometimes that means explaining to them that, yes, the things that they are learning at school are actually useful, whether it’s algebra or the meaning beneath a Bible verse.

We spoke to Mr Sim about his busy schedule and how his beliefs shape his actions at and beyond the College.
