These concerts with pianist Kathryn Selby highlight an extraordinary work by eight Australians, the Fire Dances Suite, a composition funded by a Fresh Start Grant of the ABC.

Diverse dance movements journey through the trajectory of a bushfire - distant haze, engulfing flames, and finally nature’s regrowth.

Also on the program, gorgeous Schumann music, eight Australian composers and, ending on utterly Romantic note, Mendelssohn’s final piano trio.

From their formative student days busking on the streets of Sydney to national and international concert and festival performances, this year marks the 20 year anniversary of Enigma’s contribution to the Australian classical music scene.

Comprised of established artists in their own right - they now welcome internationally acclaimed violist Tahlia Petrosian to the ensemble.
The quartet have collaborated with a range of artists, notably commissioning ten new Australian works with shakuhachi master Riley Lee for their Five Elements project.

Damian Wright (flamenco guitar) and Gary Daley (accordion and piano) form a unique duo exploring iconic classical and jazz music reimagined through an improvisational lens.

Their performances unfold as a spontaneous musical conversation, where ideas, rhythms and textures are discovered in the moment.

The warm, expressive harmonies of piano and accordion intertwine with the rhythmic brilliance and colour of flamenco guitar, creating music that is fluid, atmospheric and constantly evolving.
