Bowls NZ announced on Monday 14 February the cancellation of the Summerset Fours & Mixed Pairs. |
60 plus bowlers from various experience levels registered for Auckland Bowls two Coaching & Skills Training Clinics held this month at Remuera Bowling Club.
Auckland Bowls Coaching & Player Development Manager Leif Selby says, "We've had a good turnout for our two clinics. The clinics cover a range of vital elements required for bowlers to get a broader perspective of their capabilities and reach their full bowling potential. Ultimately, these clinics provide bowlers with a complete understanding while strengthening key skill sets such as mental focus and concentration, the importance of a disciplined pre-shot routine, visualisation, identifying and dealing with emotions, mental preparation for upcoming matches and goal-setting.
I also introduce some core skill set training activities to challenge and prepare bowlers to succeed in those goals. I look forward to following the progress of the attendees."."

Have you been watching the curling at the Olympics?
Curling is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. It is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles.
Auckland Curling is holding “Have a Go” nights at Paradise Ice Rink in Avondale, in the coming Saturdays or Sundays.

Congratulations to our Open Women's Triples winners: Rima Strickland, Janine Young and Andrea Wilson. They beat Lesley McLinden, Robyn Fisher and Nicole Singer in Sunday's Final.
The 2-life system meant we had two teams left on Sunday morning: Rima, Janine and Andrea with two lives playing Lesley, Robyn and Nicole with one life. In the first game, Lesley’s team won 17/5 - which meant the Final would take place after lunch, where Rima’s team won 16/7.
A brilliant effort by everyone in some pretty challenging weather conditions.

Howick Bowls
13 February 2022
Last Sunday Howick Bowling Club held its post-section play for the Open Pairs.
The wind blew every which way and gusted to 70 kph. Jacks moved, bowls turkeyed off into the next rink, or gave up halfway along the green. Then came the horizontal rain. About 1pm it all got too hard.
The club is in talks with Bear Grylls about extreme bowls and has entered a team in the next series of Survivor!
Tuesday was the perfect “Goldilocks Day” to be playing lawn bowls at St Heliers. Not a cloud in the sky, just a gentle zephyr with a pleasant 24C and very low humidity.
Twenty two teams played in the Grace Joel Retirement Village sponsored event. Bowlers did not waste the superb conditions, with four teams each having four wins.
Jackie O’Fee was on hand to present the prizes and gave a very informative address to the very attentive bowlers.
