Just NewsStep into this fortnight's edition of Just News, the internal newsletter for the vibrant community of Jesuit Social Services, highlighting current happenings and inspiring stories. Hello, and welcome to the new-look Just News. This fresh look matches the new website we launched last year, and contains the same stories and updates we love, including: our Refugee Week celebration, NAIDOC Week, how Support After Suicide connects hearts in grief through music, Voice to Parliament resources, and the first piece from our latest supporter newsletter. Enjoy the edition. ReadingNAIDOC Week runs from 2-9 July, and, as Andy Hamilton SJ writes, is not only about protest: it's about making a more just and decent Australia, where all people are treated with respect. Our Voice to Parliament resourcesJesuit Social Services actively supports the Voice to Parliament. To keep staff informed and engaged on the Voice, we've created a regularly updating resource list and a weekly staff bulletin, the first edition of which Catherine Neville emailed on 27 June. Celebrating Refugee Week and World Refugee DayStaff and volunteers at our Sunshine and Richmond offices gathered on Tuesday 20 June to mark World Refugee Day – an annual opportunity to recognise and reflect on the experiences of refugees and people seeking asylum. When musician and anthropologist Glenn McDonald’s mum passed away from suicide in 2011, music played an important part in his recovery – he now gives back through music workshops run by our Support After Suicide program. Why we're committed to restorative practiceWe take pride in delivering services that recognise a person’s individual needs, experiences and story – exemplified in our commitment to working restoratively, which you can learn more about in the policy article from our latest newsletter. Business Support ServicesImportant updates from our operations teams. Newly approved documents are on GembaTwenty-nine fresh documents have arrived on Gemba, which is the home and first source of all policies, processes, forms and templates. Kerry Durrand's email from 26 June steps out the documents that have changed and why – log in to Gemba to see changes including updates to our family and carer policy, reduced requirements for staff who use timesheets, a new form for changing your superannuation account, and more. Salary adjustment comes into effect in JulyKate Brewster emailed us on 14 June confirming all staff will be receiving the Fair Work Commission's annual pay rise, which increases award wages in line with inflation – including staff who are not paid according to an award. This adjustment comes into effect for the pay cycle starting 10 July, which will be processed on 26 July, and is a 5.75% increase. Our guaranteed superannuation contribution will also jump to 11% from 1 July. Media, news, and eventsJesuit Social Services in the news and events to add to your diary.
