Mixer with KPAA at Allen Pools & Spas Tonight

Tonight, October 10, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Allen Pools and Spas will be hosting the October Mixer! This is a joint mixer with the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR) and the Killington Pico Area Association (KPAA)!

This special evening will benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Allen Pools and Spas will raffle off a hot tub as well as other donated prizes from the community. Raffle sales started at the beginning of September to get a jump start on fundraising.

The mixer should be a fun event as we come to mingle with our KPAA colleagues under the large tent! Need a hot tub? The tent sale includes ready-for-purchase pre-owned hot tubs. Seating and heaters under the tent while listening to Aaron Audet, food and drinks by Noel’s Catering, and The Making Strides leadership team will tell us all about their fundraising for breast cancer.

Killington Forward Ribbon Cutting

Killington cut the ribbon Wednesday on its new municipal water project, the first phase in an infrastructure plan expected to spur $285 million in real estate development.

“You’ve waited 35 years for this,” said Lyle Jepson, executive director of the Chamber and Economic Development of the Rutland Region, as giant scissors snipped the ceremonial red ribbon.

A gathering of more than 40 local, state and federal officials celebrated at the site of the infrastructure project, which will pump water from wells beside the Ottauquechee River up to the Killington Road, creating a town water system.

Rutland Mayor Announces Loans and Goal of Adding 1,000 New Housing Units

Rutland is accepting applications for a new revolving loan fund that will provide low-interest loans up to $30,000 per unit to fix up market-rate rental housing.

In the same announcement Tuesday, Mayor Mike Doenges said he has set a goal of creating 1,000 housing units in the next five years. “Rutland City stands at a pivotal moment in its history,” Doenges said in a press release. “By working collaboratively with our housing partners, developers, and the community,” he said, the city could create a “brighter and more prosperous future” for its residents.

The revolving loan fund, endowed with about $400,000 in federal American Rescue Plan Act funds, will be overseen by NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, a housing organization that works in Rutland, Addison, and Bennington counties, according to Ed Bove, executive director of the Rutland Redevelopment Authority.

The Green Mountain church of Christ is dedicated to this concept! Come by and we will "give you something to eat!" Luke 9:13b

VMEC Lean 101

OCTOBER 24 | 8:00 AM-4:00 PM

Much like continuous improvement, lean transformation is a methodology that can and should be applied to all areas of a manufacturing business, not just the shop floor. It is a common misconception that the purpose of lean transformation is to eliminate waste. The real purpose of lean transformation is to increase efficiency, agility, and transparency across the organization. Eliminating waste is really just a natural outcome of properly implementing lean.

Lean organizations strive to align their skills, resources, processes, and strategies with the wants of their customer. Organizations that implement this correctly can rapidly respond to change in order to ensure success for today and tomorrow.
