Physiotherapy Council of NSW

2025 Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) Scholarship Program

Dear physiotherapy practitioner,

The Physiotherapy Council of NSW (the Council) has participated in the Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) Scholarship Program in 2023 and 2024. In doing so, we funded an Indigenous physiotherapist registered in NSW to participate in the IAHA National Conference in those two years.

The Council is proud to announce that we are participating in the IAHA Scholarship Program again this year, and that applications are now open. Through this program, we will fund a scholarship for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander physiotherapy student currently studying at a NSW university, or who previously lived in NSW before enrolling as a physiotherapy student at a university outside NSW, or an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander physiotherapist who lives and works in NSW, to attend and participate in the IAHA National Conference: https://iaha.com.au/events/iaha-national-conference/

We strongly encourage you to share this scholarship opportunity with your students.

What is the IAHA?
Indigenous Allied Health Australia is a national, member-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health organisation. IAHA leads sector workforce development and support to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

What is the 2025 IAHA National Conference?
The 2025 IAHA National Conference provides an excellent opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to experience:

  • Professional development that challenges them both personally and professionally
  • Networking opportunities with likeminded people within a culturally diverse and safe space
  • Opportunities for growth, learning and healing
  • A gala celebration of excellence in the Indigenous allied health sector
  • Enriching cultural experiences.

The conference will take place on the lands of the Kabi Kabi peoples on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, from 24 – 26 November 2025.

What will the scholarship cover?
The scholarship recipient will have the full cost of conference registration, flights and accommodation covered by the Physiotherapy Council of NSW.

Who can apply for the scholarship?
The scholarship is open to IAHA members who are endorsed before 26 February 2025. While there are several sponsorships and bursaries available to IAHA members across Australia, the Physiotherapy Council of NSW scholarship is available specifically for physiotherapists or physiotherapy students registered in NSW.

Applications close on 2 July 2024.

How can I apply?
To apply for the scholarship, please visit the IAHA National Conference website.

Kind regards,

Physiotherapy Council of NSW
