A nurse consultant in diabetes and her team have been named the winners of the prestigious Rowan Hillson Inpatient Diabetes Award 2025. Christina Lange Ferreira, from Wye Valley NHS Trust, has been awarded the accolade for demonstrating innovation in inpatient diabetes care. The first ever immunotherapy for type 1 diabetes is critical for keeping the UK at the forefront of diabetes care, a top consultant has said. Professor Parth Narendran, from the University of Birmingham, has outlined that teplizumab is currently one of the most exciting advances in diabetes and he is hopeful that people will have access to this medicine in the near future. The digital health and medical device company behind the CamAPS FX app announced the launch of its iPhone companion feature, enabling iPhone users to remotely monitor glucose and insulin data for people living with type 1 diabetes. The CamAPS FX app update including this new feature is available in the United Kingdom and Sweden, with additional countries to follow. A common but often undiagnosed genetic condition may be causing delays in type 2 diabetes diagnoses and increasing the risk of serious complications for thousands of Black and South Asian men in the UK – and potentially millions worldwide.
