News from the networkYECAP Eco-anxiety Survey The Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) Movers Programme, and Overcome have launched a survey to understand the experiences of young climate activists. The survey aims to uncover the prevalence, triggers, and coping mechanisms for eco-anxiety, assisting the development of effective support strategies and resources. Regional Conference: Inclusive Energy Transition in South Asia and Beyond The Asian Development Bank, along with the Nossal Institute (The University of Melbourne) hosted a regional conference in May focused on inclusive energy transition in Sri Lanka, marking the start of a multi-year capacity development program. There will be national conference in Chennai India this year (December 10-11), and national workshops in Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal in 2025. Fourth Clean Pacific Roundtable held in Tuvalu More than 200 delegates met in Tuvalu from 5-9 August with the goal of advancing the journey towards a Cleaner Pacific. Facilitated by the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), with Members and partners, the Clean Pacific Roundtable exists to foster networking and dialogue, improve donor coordination, mobilise technical and financial resources and to monitor the progress of the Cleaner Pacific 2025 strategy. Global Heat Health Experts gather in Singapore Committee members of the Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN) and the Southeast Asia Heat Health Hub (SEA HHH) convened at the end of July to shape the future of their global network and regional initiatives. Pacific Islands achieve milestones in the fight against climate change In a significant milestone for climate action in the Pacific, GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) officially handed over the management of the Regional Pacific NDC Hub to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) during a SPREP Focal Point meeting for their 14 member countries. This transition marks the successful completion of Phase three of the NDC Hub's journey, which has been pivotal in advancing climate resilience and sustainable development across our Pacific Islands. Regional projects must involve at least 2 of the 18 eligible countries and territories, with a budget ranging from EUR 1.5 million to EUR 5 million. EmPower: Women for Climate-Resilient Societies Programme Pioneer Facility, powered by Nexus for Development, offers loans of up to $500,000 (USD) to scale climate positive social enterprises in Southeast Asia. The fund focuses on enhancing financial access for enterprises led by women. INPACC Hub Steering Committee member Dr Meghnath Dhimal is a highly experienced Environmental Health Scientist with more than two decades of work spanning Nepal, Maldives, Timor-Leste, and Germany. His expertise primarily lies in environmental health, with a strong focus on climate change and its impact on health. As a Principal Investigator, Meghnath has taken the lead on numerous research projects encompassing environmental and climate change, non-communicable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, burden of diseases, and health systems research in Nepal. He has made significant contributions to the development of health, population, and environment policies and plans in both Nepal and abroad. Meghnath is currently Chief Research Officer and Nepal Health Research Council Associate Academician at the Nepal Academy of Science & Technology and Fellow, International Science Council. He recently facilitated a session at the National Conference on Climate Change and Health in Nepal. Co-hosted by WHO and the Nepal Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the conference promoted a multi-sectoral and harmonized approach to enhancing Nepal's health system's resilience and sustainability.
