FEAM Contributes to the Launch of the EU Working Group on Respiratory Care

FEAM is proud to contribute to the newly launched EU Working Group on Respiratory Care, an initiative coordinated by the RPP Group to strengthen EU policy and action on respiratory health.

Launched in May 2025, the Working Group brings together ten key organisations, including scientific societies, patient associations, and healthcare professionals. Its mission is to advocate for better access to respiratory treatments, integrate prevention strategies into upcoming Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines, and promote the long-term management of respiratory diseases in the EU.

Through high-level engagement with policymakers, the group aims to co-develop a Call-to-Action for an EU Respiratory Health Plan. The first phase of work will culminate in the publication and dissemination of this call in early 2026, supporting ongoing ECDC efforts and highlighting best practices to improve respiratory care across Member States

FEAM Forum One Health webinar

The FEAM Forum hosted a webinar ‘One Health in action: advancing cross sector collaboration’ at the end of April. The webinar featured panellists representing Forum partner organisations as well as Professor Tuomas Aivelo, member of the SAPEA working group on One Health governance in the EU. The panellists shared practical examples from their experience working across sectors: from working with other boundary organisations, developing cross-sectoral training for health management professionals, and working with multiple stakeholders involved in the ecosystem of urban rats. They highlighted the importance of broadening policy and research discussions beyond antimicrobial resistance and zoonoses.

Updated Ethical Guidelines for Animal Experiments

The Swiss Animal Welfare Act permits the use of animals for scientific purposes under strict conditions, emphasizing the need to respect animal dignity and protect their welfare. To support this, the revised ethical guidelines for animal experiments aim to clarify the interpretation of the law and promote thoughtful, responsible practices among researchers.

Originally published in 2005, these guidelines have been updated to reflect advances in scientific knowledge, evolving research methods, and recent changes in the legal landscape. The new edition is available in English, German, and French, and can be downloaded free of charge on their website.
