Latest NICE guidelines on glucose monitoring issued for review

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is inviting comments on three updated guidelines about the management of glucose monitoring.  

Currently in the development stage, the guidelines are split into three reports outlining recommendations on how to manage glucose monitoring for people with type 1 diabetes, individuals with type 2 diabetes and for children with either of the conditions.

Secondary care providers asked for input into review of enteral feeding guidelines

Healthcare professionals are being asked to provide information to help shape a review of the guideline, ‘Glycaemic management during enteral feeding’.

Members of the Joint British Diabetes Society Inpatient Care Group (JBDS) are asking those in secondary care to share data as part of the audit to establish: The prevalence of the use of enteral feeding, how diabetes teams manage glucose control for people with diabetes during enteral feeding and what level of glucose control is being achieved.

Leading diabetes experts to speak at inaugural inpatient conference

Professor Partha Kar OBE, the National Specialty Advisor for Diabetes with NHS England, will be among the keynote speakers at the first national conference from the UK Diabetes Inpatient Forum. 

The date has now been revealed for the online event, which will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, to mark 100 years since insulin was first administered to a human.
