Winterclub – Four Champs, One Cracking Finish

And just like that... it's a wrap for Winterclub 2026! 

Three weekends, plenty of weather drama, a few leaderboard plot twists and four finals later, we have our champions.

Championship: Carlton Cornwall Tui
Division 2: Railway Storm
Division 3: Papatoetoe
Division 4: Carlton Cornwall Kererū

Carlton Cornwall had a particularly good day on the green, with Tūī taking the Championship and Kererū claiming Division 4.

A massive thank you to every player, club, host venue, volunteer, greenkeeper, kitchen crew, official and convenor who helped make Winterclub happen. It takes a small army to keep this competition rolling!

Meet the PPC team for 2026-2027

Who decides what we play, when we play it and how the tournaments take shape? Meet the Playing Programme Committee (PPC).

Made up of bowlers who help shape the Bowls Auckland Playing Calendar and Conditions of Play, the PPC is where the planning starts before the bowls hit the green.

There’s one new face around the table for 2026-2027, with Katy Merrett joining the PPC following Fiona Matheson’s two years of service. Katy joins Bryan Chapman, Lesley McLinden, Les Smith and Brendon Walton.

We take a look at what the PPC do and how they help keep the playing programme rolling!

Winter Coaching Is Over - Now Comes the Bragging Rights!

Six weeks of winter coaching have led to this - Canoe and Campi weekend is here!

A whopping 215 players, 61 teams will hit the greens as Auckland’s five coaching zones come together for the final competitive test of the 1-5 Year Winter Coaching Programme.

There’s plenty at stake. 32 men’s fours will battle for the Canoe Trophy, while 29 women’s triples take aim at the Campi Cup and with experience limits keeping the fields nicely mixed, there’s no shortage of fresh talent ready to make a name for themselves.

Keep an eye on East’s Sam Brack, who is chasing the Canoe in one of his final 1–5 Year events, while defending Campi champion Hannah Dawson returns for Southeast.

And speaking of Southeast… they took home both trophies last year. Naturally, everyone else would quite like to change that.

The Campi also gets a format shake-up this year, with only the top eight teams advancing to the championship event, while the rest battle it out in the consolation competition.

The coaching has been done. The homework is over. Now it’s time to see who can turn six weeks of learning into a trophy, and perhaps a little zone bragging rights along the way. Good luck, everyone. Bring on the Canoe & Campi!
