The Alumni Fellow Award is the most prestigious award given by the Penn State Alumni Association. Since 1973, the Alumni Fellow Award has been given to select alumni who, as leaders in their professional fields, are nominated by an academic college and accept an invitation from the President of the University to return to campus to share their expertise with students, faculty, and administrators. "Science on the Spot" Regional Alumni Events"Science on the Spot" is a new event series featuring Eberly faculty who will share research news and updates. Alumni in the Philadelphia area are invited to meet Sarah Shandera, the director of Penn State's Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos, on Wednesday, November 2 or Thursday, November 3. Shandera will discuss how powerful new observatories are bringing us first-time views of vast areas of the universe, revealing an incredible diversity of objects and systems. These events will be recorded and will be available at a later date for anyone who is unable to attend. Read more about these events and register. Alumna Named Top Five Honoree in ASCP 40 Under Forty ProgramThe American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) announced in August that Catherine M. Stefaniuk, who received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Penn State University, has been named a Top Five honoree in the ASCP 2022 40 Under Forty program. She is among five high-achieving pathologists and medical laboratory professionals under age 40 who were selected from the prestigious list. Read more about Stefaniuk. Blue-White Alumni Reception Held on September 9We were thrilled to host our alumni at the 2022 Blue-White Alumni Reception. NASA Selects STAR-X for $3M Mission Concept StudySTAR-X, a proposed space mission that includes Penn State astronomer Niel Brandt, is one of two proposed missions selected by the NASA Explorers Program to receive $3 million for a nine-month detailed study of mission requirements.
