Reflections from Oakland Promise's 2021 Community Briefing

Dear Oakland Promise Supporter,

Thank you for spending time with us at our 2021 Community Briefing! If you missed it, you can catch our recording of it here. We also wanted to make sure you saw this video we shared at the Briefing called "The Family We Grow With" (by Youth Beat) featuring a counselor, parents and scholars.

We were honored to have so many amazing speakers join us, including Myra Estrada, Oakland's 2021 Youth Poet Laureate. Myra shared a powerful and original tribute to Oakland that you can watch here or read here. Here is a glimpse into her original work:

Oakland is our pride and power

I wear my home town like a sword across my chest

Protecting me and loving me

Reminding me, that I could achieve something

There's no lack of love in our Ohlone land

As much as we miss gathering in person, we appreciate the opportunity to connect with our community so we could report our impact and share our 2021 Community Briefing Report.
