Dream Maker Bakers pose with the Vermont State record for largest whoopie pie.
WHOOPIE!! What a great event!
We cannot thank the community enough for such a successful first annual Whoopie Pie Festival and Parade of Heroes! We had nine vendors from Vermont, New York, and Maine hand out samples to hungry festival goers. Holly Bromley, owner of The Gettin' Place in Whitehall, New York won People's Choice Award and Overall Best, which was voted on by a panel of five judges. Fiona Graves, owner of Fiona's Sweets & Tweets, a food truck based in Pittsford, won Most Creative, also voted on by judges. Dream Maker Bakers set the Vermont State Record by baking and putting together (in front of a crowd) a 554 pound whoopie pie! Over 250 people marched in our Parade of Heroes, honoring everyone who has played a major role in keeping our community safe throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Everyone at CEDRR is wowed by your support and is getting busy planning for the next community celebration.
After taking a month off, NewStory Center will host our next mixer on Tuesday, September 13 from 5:00-7:00 PM at their 92 Grove Street location in Rutland. Marble Valley Kitchen will cater the event and hard cider, brewed by NewStory Center Executive Director Avaloy Haynes Lanning's husband will be on site. As always, we will have a 50/50 raffle, raffle for fun prizes, and good
times! View CEDRR's Calendar of Events →

Housing Hosts Needed for UVM Medical Students
Southern Vermont Area Health Education Center (SVTAHEC) is looking for hosts who can open their home and help a young person during his/her education in rural medicine. Each year, medical students from the University of Vermont are assigned to the Southern Vermont region to do a two-to-five-week rotation with a local physician, rural clinic, or hospital. They are away from their own homes and far for
a daily commute back to Burlington. Students need a private bedroom, bathroom, access to a kitchen, WIFI connection, and space to park. Students have their own transportation. SVTAHEC handles the initial contact. They then connect you with the student to provide directions and other special instructions you may have. A small stipend for the host is available. For more information please contact Susan White, Education Resource Coordinator at swhite@svtahec.org or call 802-885-2126 x105. Email Susan White →
