‘Privacy – it’s everyone’s business’. Make it yours!

Privacy Awareness Week 16-22 June 2025

Support Privacy Awareness Week

Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is led by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in partnership with state and territory privacy regulators and the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities members.

As members of ADIA working under Australia's only industry APP Privacy Code (registered by the OAIC), we encourage you to sign your organisation up as a PAW supporter as a way to show your commitment to promoting good privacy practices and advancing the privacy rights of individuals.

Supporters will receive updates on PAW activities and resources, can access a PAW toolkit and have the option to be listed as PAW supporters.

With the OAIC reporting that people are losing trust in organisations protecting their data and that 70% of Australians now see the protection of personal information as a major concern, the issue of privacy has become even more critical to all Australians.

Privacy Awareness Week provides a great opportunity to make privacy ‘your business’.

By working under the Privacy Code, ADIA members mitigate risk for clients daily and provide their organisation with greater protection and guidance, but there are steps we can all take to be more privacy-protective both at work, and in our day-to-day lives.

Good privacy practices make good business sense. Make sure strong privacy practices are a core part of your business. It’s not hard to get privacy right – check out paw.gov.au for easy-to-use resources to make sure your business or organisation has the right measures in place.

Celebrating with PAW events

The OAIC and state and territory privacy regulators are marking PAW with a range of events.

Australian Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind will be speaking at an
IAPP event (livestreamed) on Monday 16 June and she will be joined by the Victorian and NSW Privacy Commissioners for an online Commissioners' panel hosted by OVIC on Wednesday 18 June. You can find out more about these and other events at paw.gov.au.
