October 2022 newsletter from St Petroc's Early Years! Dear Parents & Carers, It's been a busy month, and the children particularly enjoyed getting out and about for a morning snack at 'House of Chaplin' in Bude. Thank you to Sara and Chris, who prepared some yummy hot chocolates and bagels for the children to enjoy. The children have also been learning about the different seasons changing now that lots of leaves are falling, with the preschoolers focussing on animals who hibernate. All age groups have enjoyed art and craft activities to celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights. They had fun recalling things which bring us light during our daily circle times. As part of this topic we have also looked at the Indian elephant, Taj Mahal and candles. The children then created their own divas using clay candles. The Dolphins enjoyed baking gingerbread men and learning new skills, mixing, pouring, weighing, cutting, and rolling. They have recalled their favourite part of the stories 'The Gingerbread Man' and 'Stickman'. The children put their creative skills to good use and made their own stickman and stick lady. The preschoolers also had fun learning about Jewish families welcoming the New Year Rosh Hashanah and enjoyed dipping slices of apple into honey to celebrate a sweet new year ahead and learned how to transfer water using pipettes onto coffee filter paper to create their own apples. We then spoke about how firefighters help to keep us safe. During circle time the children spoke about yummy, yucky and dangerous smells. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Kind Regards, Tahira White Early Years Manager Designated Safeguarding Lead Little Turtles and SealionsLittle turtles and Sealions enjoyed sensory learning using dinosaurs, pebbles, mirrors, water and sand.
