In this session, Adelaide Enterprise will discuss how research can be translated into a commercialisation outcome, and how value is created in the process. Register here Turbocharge Your Writing When: 9 May 2023, 1:30pm - 4:00pm Would you like to know the secret to high output, low stress scholarly writing? Then join us for this workshop presented by Hugh Kearns from ThinkWell to learn how to increase your writing output. Following the workshop you will understand why it’s hard to get started, know how to set a writing plan and stick to it, and how to greatly increase the number of actual words you produce. Other Training & EventsARC DECRA (DE25) Information Session: Timing your Application Thinking of applying for the ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme? This information session will consist of a series of short presentations followed by Q&A. Guest presenters will discuss timing your submission from the perspective of an applicant, and share their tips and tricks for preparing a winning proposal. At this introductory workshop, we teach fundamental programming concepts and apply them to a data analysis workflow. Join us for a live-coding course where we write programs that produce results, using the researcher-focused training modules from the highly regarded Software Carpentry Foundation. Data Entry and Processing in SPSS This beginner hands-on training is designed to familiarize you with the interface and basic data processing functionalities in SPSS. We will examine several “must know” syntax commands that can help streamline data entry and processing. Data Manipulation and Visualisation in R R is quickly gaining popularity as a programming language for data scientists and researchers. It has an excellent ecosystem including RStudio and a massive online community of users for support. In this intermediate-level, live coding, and researcher-focussed workshop we will use the dplyr, tidyr, and ggplot2 libraries to manipulate, reshape, and visualise data. NewsArtificial Intelligence Library Guide The library has released a How-To guide on Artificial Intelligence which provides information about using generative AI tools for study in an ethical, responsible and evaluative way. The guide provides an introduction to some of the AI tools available, how to cite and acknowledge their use, and the use of such tools in research articles intended for publication. Visualise Your Thesis is back! Registrations are now open for the 2023 Visualise Your Thesis competition. HDRs are challenged to present their research in a sixty second visual display. First prize wins $1000 and will go on to compete in the International online competition. All successful submissions also qualify for 5 CaRST points. These sessions are ideal for interactive workshops and give you an opportunity to meet other HDR students. When booking into a session, you will see whether the workshop is held online or in person. Our in-person workshops are extremely popular and have limited places. Therefore, if you cannot commit to attending in-person, please cancel your booking to allow the place to be offered to another student.
